I had a weird migraine yesterday. Instead of the typical heavy head, it felt like I was in a cloud with tiny iron deposits swirling around. Noises and bright lights were not my friends…just like the Mogwai in Gremlins.
Today, however, I’m back at work, and bright lights/noises are still my friends, yay! And one of my co-workers is transferring to our department next week. Yay!!!!!
It’s been a while since I’ve been at Stolles. The new, bespectacled, dark-haired American cashier was very nice and meek; she insisted that my potato pie should be warmed, which was the right thing to do for any of these pies.
This savory pie is a favorite of mine: julienned potatoes mixed with sour cream sauce, mushrooms, and dill, plumply filled in a latticed-dough pocket, baked golden brown. These Eastern European pies are works of art.
(One of these days, I will eat one of their sweet pies for lunch…at least I don’t have to wait to eat any of them after midnight š )
Enjoy!
